Local Residents to Participate in University of Evansville Entrepreneurship Fair
Multiple local residents are among the 27 University of Evansville students participating in the Schroeder Family School of Business's annual entrepreneurship fair.
The fair will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, February 15 in the Schroeder Family School of Business Building's Bernhardt Atrium. Admission is free and open to the public.
Ten student-founded businesses will showcase their products and services at the fair as part of a two-semester curriculum in entrepreneurship, taught by UE assistant professor of management Joe Trendowski. The following local students will participate:

Local Residents Participate in University of Evansville Senior Nursing Project
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, around 80 percent of adolescents are in excellent or very good health - but 18 percent are obese, 9 percent smoked cigarettes in the last month, and most do not meet recommendations for consuming fruit, vegetables, and whole grains.
Nutrition, fitness, and health risk factors are just a few of the topics about which local residents are striving to educate Evansville, Indiana, teenagers as part of the University of Evansville's senior nursing project.
Each year, UE's senior nursing students work with community leaders on a health promotion project. The following local residents will participate in this year's project, titled "I'm Healthy and I Know It!," which runs from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, November 15:

UE Nursing Students Hold Middle School Health Fair
According to the National Center for Children in Poverty, adolescents from low-income families often lack access to health insurance or preventive care, yet they are vulnerable to health-related issues such as poor nutrition and substance use. This is true for many of the students at Glenwood Leadership Academy, a Title I school on the south side of Evansville, Indiana, that enrolls students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
To share vital health information with GLA middle schoolers, 15 University of Evansville nursing students held a health and wellness fair as their senior project. The group included the following local students:

Local Students Build "Box City" to Raise Awareness of Homelessness
According to a recent U.S. Census Bureau report, approximately one in six Americans live in poverty, and Indiana's poverty rate is higher than the national average. Furthermore, on any given night, around 500 people in Evansville, Indiana, are homeless aEUR" living in shelters, transitional housing facilities, cars, or tents.
To raise awareness of homelessness and its impact in Evansville, the United States, and the world, the following local students participated in a Box City event Monday, October 3, on UE's campus:

Local Nursing Students Teach First Aid to Boy Scouts
According to the National Center for Health Statistics, unintentional injuries led to 28.4 million emergency department visits in a recent year. First aid aEUR" providing initial care for injured or ill people until they can receive professional medical help aEUR" is vital in minimizing or preventing serious injuries. That's why the following local University of Evansville nursing students recently helped an Evansville Boy Scout troop complete the requirements for the First Aid Merit Badge.
